High Drama

Sundays were made for two things, football and golf. When I can't be treated to the excitement that is the NFL, I like to be treated to the drama that is final round golf. And the drama is increased tenfold when the tournament is The Masters. Throw in the fact that the final round leader is the one golfer I actually cheer for and you have the makings of a great Sunday.

You'd be hard pressed to find me another event that packs in so much excitement and ultimately drama. For the life of me I can't hit the little ball into the little hole starting hundreds of yards away (I like my golf from 15-20 feet where the only club necessary is the putter) but I love watching the game. Early Sunday we had the world's top ranked golfers paired together in the final round, as many people had hoped, but they started seven strokes off the lead. But that didn't stop them from putting on a show, trying to one up the other with each and every shot.

As they finished and most people realized they hadn't done enough to win The Masters, Kenny Perry was holding steady with par after par as birdie putts came tantalizing close but none fell. He finally made birdie on the 12th hole and maintained a one or two shot lead for most of the day. Then on 16 it looked as though Kenny made the shot of his life. He put his drive on this par 3 within a foot of the cup and tapped in to take a two shot lead heading the 17th.

Some would say it wasn't meant to be. But that's bullshit. As much as I was cheering for Kenny and wanted him to win, Kenny choked. After the shot of his life, he couldn't muster a drive to find the fairway. He couldn't find the green in regulation. He couldn't make the shots he needed to make. And he admitted just as much. His par attempt on 18 to seal the victory slid right next to hole and stopped oh so close, like many of his putts yesterday. The troubles continued through both sudden death playoff holes.

Even with Kenny losing it was exciting to watch. There was so much drama. Drama that cannot really be recreated with any other setting. But in the end it is just a game. And Kenny realizes that too. He quipped if this was the worst thing to happen in his life, than things are pretty good. It's impossible not to feel for Kenny. He's a stand up guy thats impossible not to like. But lets face the facts. In the face of the drama he provided he choked. Just like the only other time he had a chance at a major title. Kenny you broke my heart again.

Tweet, Tweet

No, I haven't jumped on the Twitter bandwagon yet, but I'm thinking about it. I'm best known for one of two things. There's the rant, which is ideal for the blog. And let's not forget that I practically started the blog bandwagon. I blogged well before it was cool and certainly before anybody really knew what it meant. But there's also my off-the-cuff, oh so timely, one-liners. Those would be ideal for Twitter.

My favorite part of Facebook (well besides the stalking) is the status. No not your status, I don't give two shits about your status, but my status. Which either serves as a mini rant or something as simple as "sexting". And clearly neither of those deserve a blog post, but come one, who doesn't want to know when I'm sexting?

So I'll sleep on it and I'll let you know. On one hand I think I could make it fun but on the other hand I don't know how comfortable I am participating in an action known as "tweeting". Can somebody tell me why its not twittering?

Winding Down

It's been a while since I've been around these parts, and for that I apologize. But March was a crazy busy month. I completed and presented my thesis design project, so the bulk of my school work is done. There is still a little left to do in the remaining 4 weeks but compared to what I've already completed, its cake. So I'll be around for regular updates.

To get you started I have posted some photos from the first fire, somewhere between camp fire and bonfire, of the season. And no we didn't torch any of our thesis work...yet. The scaled photos really don't do justice, which may lead me to a overhaul of the Photoblog. You'll certainly notice if/when anything changes. So check out the photos now.

Check back soon for another update.
